Whirlybird Installation · Rosanna
Established brick veneer and weatherboard homes near the Banyule wetlands in Rosanna commonly trap summer heat in poorly ventilated roof cavities that radiate down into the rooms below, and they also collect winter moisture that condenses in the cavity. Whirlybirds vent both. On the concrete-tile and terracotta roofs common here, we lift the tile course, cut a clean penetration, bed the flashing watertight and seat the turbine. In Rosanna's shaded, tree-covered setting, managing winter moisture matters as much as summer heat — clearing the moist air protects roof timbers and insulation year-round.
Rosanna's wetland-adjacent tree cover makes winter cavity moisture a genuine issue, so venting the roof here protects the timbers from condensation as much as it eases the summer heat.
Local roof weather
Rosanna sees around ~6 days above 35°C a year, and on those days an unventilated roof cavity turns into a heat store right above your ceilings.

The process
We look at roof size, pitch and existing airflow to work out how many vents you actually need — no over-selling.
Vents go high on the roof where the hottest air collects, balanced with the eave intake so air can actually move through.
On a tiled roof we lift the tiles, cut a neat penetration, and bed the flashing so it is fully weatherproof.
The turbine is seated in the flashing collar and the tiles are reinstated over the apron, leaving a clean, leak-free finish.
Installation differs by roof: on tiled roofs we cut and flash the penetration under the tile course, while on metal roofs the vent is flashed directly into the sheeting. Both need the flashing done properly — a rushed vent install is a classic future leak.
Installations are carried out by an insured team and the workmanship is backed by a 7-Year Workmanship Guarantee and a 10-Year Dulux Acratex Material Warranty.
