Whirlybird Installation · Mulgrave
Mulgrave's brick veneer homes, built through the 1960s to 80s around the Monash corridor, were mostly constructed before roof ventilation was standard, leaving roof cavities with nowhere for summer heat to escape. A whirlybird uses wind and rising heat to continuously draw that hot air out, cutting ceiling heat load in the house below and, importantly, helping clear the extra moisture that Mulgrave's higher rainfall and mature tree cover tend to hold against roof timbers. It's a straightforward retrofit suited to concrete and terracotta tile alike.
Mulgrave's higher south-eastern rainfall means better ventilation does double duty here, both reducing summer heat and helping moisture clear from the roof cavity rather than settling against timbers.
Local roof weather
Mulgrave sees around ~6 days above 35°C a year, and on those days an unventilated roof cavity turns into a heat store right above your ceilings.

The process
We look at roof size, pitch and existing airflow to work out how many vents you actually need — no over-selling.
Vents go high on the roof where the hottest air collects, balanced with the eave intake so air can actually move through.
On a tiled roof we lift the tiles, cut a neat penetration, and bed the flashing so it is fully weatherproof.
The turbine is seated in the flashing collar and the tiles are reinstated over the apron, leaving a clean, leak-free finish.
Installation differs by roof: on tiled roofs we cut and flash the penetration under the tile course, while on metal roofs the vent is flashed directly into the sheeting. Both need the flashing done properly — a rushed vent install is a classic future leak.
Installations are carried out by an insured team and the workmanship is backed by a 7-Year Workmanship Guarantee and a 10-Year Dulux Acratex Material Warranty.
