Whirlybird Installation · Kangaroo Ground
Kangaroo Ground's older farmhouses and rural-residential homes often sit almost entirely under bushland canopy, which keeps the roof shaded but also traps moisture in the cavity for longer after rain, especially with rainfall here running above the Melbourne average. Homes built before roof ventilation was standard have no real way to clear that damp air, so it lingers against the timbers and roofing sheet. A whirlybird uses wind moving through the tree canopy and rising heat to draw that moist air out continuously, which matters more here than in a drier, sun-exposed suburb. On tile roofs we flash the turbine into the existing course; on Colorbond it's a straightforward metal-roof fitting suited to rural sheds and homes alike.
With Kangaroo Ground's dense bushland canopy trapping moisture in the roof cavity after rain, a whirlybird's constant airflow is as much about clearing damp air here as it is about heat, especially on older homes built before ventilation was standard.
Local roof weather
Kangaroo Ground sees around ~6 days above 35°C a year, and on those days an unventilated roof cavity turns into a heat store right above your ceilings.

The process
We look at roof size, pitch and existing airflow to work out how many vents you actually need — no over-selling.
Vents go high on the roof where the hottest air collects, balanced with the eave intake so air can actually move through.
On a tiled roof we lift the tiles, cut a neat penetration, and bed the flashing so it is fully weatherproof.
The turbine is seated in the flashing collar and the tiles are reinstated over the apron, leaving a clean, leak-free finish.
Installation differs by roof: on tiled roofs we cut and flash the penetration under the tile course, while on metal roofs the vent is flashed directly into the sheeting. Both need the flashing done properly — a rushed vent install is a classic future leak.
Installations are carried out by an insured team and the workmanship is backed by a 7-Year Workmanship Guarantee and a 10-Year Dulux Acratex Material Warranty.
