Whirlybird Installation · Hallam
Hallam's brick veneer homes from the 1970s through the 1990s were built with limited roof ventilation, and combined with the suburb's higher rainfall band, that means the roof cavity can hold both summer heat and winter moisture longer than it should. A whirlybird draws that air out continuously using wind and rising heat, with no power needed. On the standard concrete tile roofs across the suburb it's a straightforward install, with the flashing bedded under the tile course to stay weatherproof through Hallam's wetter weather; on Colorbond infill it fits directly into the sheet metal.
Hallam's rainfall runs well above the Melbourne average, so trapped moisture in the roof cavity is a real concern here, not just summer heat, and venting addresses both at once.
Local roof weather
Hallam sees around ~6 days above 35°C a year, and on those days an unventilated roof cavity turns into a heat store right above your ceilings.

The process
We look at roof size, pitch and existing airflow to work out how many vents you actually need — no over-selling.
Vents go high on the roof where the hottest air collects, balanced with the eave intake so air can actually move through.
On a tiled roof we lift the tiles, cut a neat penetration, and bed the flashing so it is fully weatherproof.
The turbine is seated in the flashing collar and the tiles are reinstated over the apron, leaving a clean, leak-free finish.
Installation differs by roof: on tiled roofs we cut and flash the penetration under the tile course, while on metal roofs the vent is flashed directly into the sheeting. Both need the flashing done properly — a rushed vent install is a classic future leak.
Installations are carried out by an insured team and the workmanship is backed by a 7-Year Workmanship Guarantee and a 10-Year Dulux Acratex Material Warranty.
